East Bay Housing

The East Bay is large--to understand what it has to offer, focus your search by the area that best meets your needs and lifestyle.

Bayside Corridor

Bounded by the Bay to the west and the hills to the east, the bayside corridor is anchored by Berkeley and Oakland in the north and stretches south to Fremont. This densely populated area offers many cultural amenities and wonderful parks, especially in the hills. The housing stock is older (but ranges from stately homes to bungalows) and school quality varies greatly by city and neighborhood.

LaMorinda and Beyond

The well-established communities of Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda (LaMorinda) represent the comforts of East Bay living. The towns and suburbs of this part of the East Bay, including Walnut Creek, offer all the amenities, easy access to outdoors activities, and excellent public schools.

Tri-Valley

Named for its three valleys (Amador, Livermore and San Ramon), the Tri-Valley is located just 33 miles east of San Francisco and 27 miles north of San Jose. The towns of Danville, Dublin, and Pleasanton, among others, have been at the forefront of new housing in the Bay Area while retaining their small town charm. Ease of access, convenience, modern housing stock, and great schools make the Tri-Valley an attractive option for families.

East Bay Schools

The East Bay’s size and diversity means that there are big variations in public school quality, especially in the Bayside Corridor region (Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, etc.). LaMorinda and Tri-Valley are home to some of the best performing schools in the state.*
